Tom Steinborn, 76

Thomas “Tom” Robert Steinborn, loyal and loving husband and father passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024 at the age of 76. He was born on March 2, 1948 in Springfield, Missouri to Lorren Thorn Steinborn and Elena Mae (Hornbeek) Steinborn.

In June of 1949 the family moved to Lake Michigan Beach in Berrien County, Michigan. Tom attended St. John’s Catholic Grade School in Benton Harbor. After moving to Three Rivers in 1961, Tom graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1967. Tom then attended Glen Oaks Community College, graduating in 1969. Tom then attended Ferris State University for 1 year. In 1971, Tom joined the United States Army under the 44th Engineer Battalion where he was stationed in Korea. Tom received an Honorable discharge in 1973 with a National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and Sharpshooter weapons badge with rifle bar.

In 1973, Tom moved back to Sturgis where he married his beloved wife of 51 years, Ok Ki. Tom dedicated 35 years to the United States Postal Service. There was not a person in town that didn’t seem to know Tom as he greeted them with a “howdy!”. After retirement, Tom and his wife Ok Ki moved to Texas to be closer to their daughter. He still enjoyed his long daily walks, reading the newspaper, listening to music and watching basketball and football. Tom was an active member of the local Knights of Columbus at his church where he volunteered his time helping others like he had done his entire life.

Tom was preceded in death by his Father and Mother Lorren and Elena Steinborn, Sister and Brother Mary Lee and Larry Steinborn. He is survived by his wife Ok Ki Steinborn of Fate, Texas, his Daughter Pamela Lang and her husband Glenn Lang of Caddo Mills, Texas. Tom also had three nieces Robin, Alexis and Gaby.
