Glen Oaks Community College is announcing the inauguration of Bryan Newton as its ninth president.
The investiture ceremony takes place at 10:30 a.m. March 21 at the college’s gymnasium. A reception will follow.
Newton, who assumed the presidency last summer, succeeded David Devier. Newton brings more than two decades of experience in higher-education leadership. His commitment to student success, workforce development and community engagement has already set the stage for a transformative future at Glen Oaks, college officials said.
Leading up to the inauguration, Glen Oaks will host a series of special events reflecting the college’s mission, values and commitment to students and the broader community.
They include a by-invitation fundraiser March 14: appreciation luncheon for faculty, staff and retirees March 17; student-appreciation luncheon March 18; and “Viking Day of Service” March 19.
