Sturgis superintendent addresses ICE rumors

Sturgis Public Schools Superintendent Art Ebert said rumors of immigration officials removing students from its buildings by immigration officials are unfounded.

According to the Sturgis Journal, Ebert released a statement Tuesday to address discussions on social media about students being taken from school by officials from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Ebert confirmed the rumors are false and that no immigration officials have contacted or visited the district.

Ebert said it is essential to address concerns with factual information and directly speak to the concerns that district officials are hearing about.

While Ebert said he cannot address what may be taking place elsewhere in St. Joseph County or across the region, there is no ICE activity on Sturgis Public Schools grounds.

  1. Really? Anyone read any part of the Homeland Security Act, USA FREEDOM (aka Patriot Act), Safety Act, and more.
For example the feds and their cohorts can demand your library and computer activity and no employee can say a word to you or other staff, or face felony charges under the Homeland Security Act.
