Food Assistance Program paused for November

Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has received communication from the USDA Food and Nutrition Service indicating that, due to the ongoing federal government funding lapse, there may be limited availability of funds to support full November Food Assistance Program benefits nationwide.

As a result, FNS has instructed MDHHS to temporarily pause the issuance of November FAP benefits until further guidance is provided, according to Karen Marcath, St. Joseph and Cass MDHHS director.

She said the agency is still processing applications and determining benefits as usual, but no money is being released for November benefits.

Marcath said clients who are checking their benefit amounts will see November benefits are not posted to their EBT accounts.

MDHHS issues about $1.3 million a month in food benefits to St. Joseph County residents.

  1. Thank you President Trump and our evangelical MAGA House and Senate for once again living up to Jesus’ edict that “as you do to the least of these, you do unto me”.
