September’s unemployment rate in St. Joseph County decreased by 1 percent from August.
Figures from the monthly labor-market analysis by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget show St. Joseph County’s unemployment rate fell from 5.4 percent in August to 4.4 percent in September. The county’s September rate from a year earlier was 4.8 percent.
Meanwhile, Cass County also experienced a decrease in its unemployment figures from August to September. Its August rate was 5.2 percent and lowered to 4.3 percent a month later.
In addition, Branch County also realized a small drop in its monthly rate. It was 4.7 percent in August and was 3.9 percent in September.
Michigan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for September was 5.1 percent, down from 5.2 percent in August.
