St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department was aided by two other agencies to treat a Flowerfield Township woman experiencing a drug overdose last week.
The incident took place Friday in the 1500 block of South Street.
Upon arrival, deputies administered Narcan and initiated CPR on the 47-year-old woman. Sheriff Chad Spence said thanks to swift actions of first responders, the woman survived. She was hospitalized and listed in stable condition.
Spence said deputies are equipped with the training and life-saving equipment necessary to respond to medical emergencies, including overdose situations. Their preparedness and rapid response played a critical role in stabilizing the patient until advanced medical care could be provided, he noted.
Sheriff’s deputies were assisted by the Schoolcraft Police and Three Rivers Fire departments.
