Three Rivers Community Foundation partners with United Way on tornado relief

Three Rivers Area Community Foundation has partnered with St. Joseph County United Way to deliver recovery resources where they are needed most.

With support from the Sturgis Area Community Foundation, a combined $20,000 grant has been awarded to St. Joseph County United Way to assist individuals and families impacted by the March 6 storm.

The tornado impacted more than 350 homes, local businesses and essential infrastructure.

Ron Buckhold, chair of the Three Rivers Area Community Foundation Advisory Board, said by working with the United Way, support is reaching those most affected quickly and effectively.

United Way is already mobilizing resources and distributing aid to meet urgent needs.

Immediate needs identified by the St. Joseph County United Way include:

Food distribution and supply coordination.
Building materials, such as tarps, boards and tools for temporary repairs.
Bedding, including pillows and blankets.
Gas cards for transportation to access essential services.
