A cultivation permit was awarded last month by members of the Constantine Village Council.
During their March 16 meeting, municipal leaders OK’d the permit to Fawn River Cultivation. Company official John Babcock said Fawn River Cultivation currently has three Class C growing, processing and retail licenses.
It also owns a processing center and three greenhouses, according to Babcock.
The request for a Class C cultivation permit supports the company’s plan to expand on a four-acre parcel in the village’s industrial park.
The company was established in 2008. Babcock said it specializes in alternative medicine, cannabis cultivation, provisioning and customer education.

Does this council bother to research anything before voting? Or are they only capable of consuming company PR?
Do a search of the real time problems of legalized marijuana pioneers! Colorado, Washington, California and others have volumes of complaints from officials and residents about the stench that comes with pot cultivation. It carries for miles!
There is already a recurring acrid stench that blows across the processing plant to Eastside Elementary, the daycare, even the Little League fields. So this council decides to get a couple more dollars in their budget by turning 4 acres behind the school into a grow field?
Take down the village Drug-Free Zone signs. They’re a joke!
We stopped going to downtown restaurants because of pot shop stink.
Remember Riverview Park? That expensive family playground, fitness, event site, visitor attraction with a river walk and fishing deck? It’s blighted and unsafe thanks to the MMPA expansion. Whole residential blocks have been ruined, their houses almost unsellable thanks to never ending noise, odor and semi traffic.
Come on negative nellies, booze and drugs will bring in more downtown shoppers to the fabric store where they can learn to make face masks. Just don’t forget the PM 2.5 filters!
