Janet Outman Davis, age 90, of Three Rivers, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Birch Meadows. She was born on April 26, 1936 in Constantine, and lived a life marked by kindness, devotion, and steady love for her family and community.
Janet was a woman of grace and strength. She carried herself with warmth and dignity throughout her life, and she touched many people through her generous spirit and thoughtful presence. Her life was rooted in family, and she found great joy in the relationships she built over the years.
On September 5, 2008, Janet married Robert Davis, and together they shared many cherished years. Their companionship brought her happiness, and they especially treasured their time spent together traveling between seasons, spending winters in Florida and summers in New York along the St. Lawrence Seaway. Janet and Robert enjoyed a life filled with shared memories, loyal partnership, and the comfort of being together.
Janet was the beloved mother of Trudy Gloy and her husband Don, Steve Outman and his wife Cathy, and Mike Outman and his wife Fawn. She was also a loving stepmother to Dan Davis and his wife Patty, Cathy Lawrence and her husband Dave, Dave Davis and his wife Heather, and Bill Palmer and his wife Maggie. Janet treasured her eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, along with many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her great pride and happiness. She is also survived by her brother, Robert Stears and his wife Evelyn.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Malcolm, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage after their wedding on July 3, 1955. She was also preceded in death by her son, Bryan Outman, her parents, Harold and Blanche Stears, and her sister, Joyce Newton. These losses were deeply felt, yet Janet carried forward with resilience, honoring the memory of those she loved.
Janet devoted many years of service to Constantine Schools, where she went on to spend 27 years as the secretary and bookkeeper in the Superintendent’s office, where her dedication was deeply valued. Her work reflected her strong sense of responsibility and her commitment to supporting students, staff, and the school community.
Outside of work, Janet embraced life with energy and enthusiasm. She loved sewing, flower gardening, dancing, volunteering, and traveling. She also found great joy in teaching Japanese embroidery in Florida for 15 years, sharing her skill and patience with others. Her interests reflected her creativity and her generous willingness to give of herself, and she was happiest when surrounded by family and engaged in the activities she loved.
Janet will be remembered for her devotion to her family and her faith in God as well as her lifelong friendships, her many talents, and the steady kindness she extended to others. Her life was one of service, love, and enduring connection, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
