Patsy Jane (Shingledecker) Kuhlman was born on March 30, 1933, to Forrest and Dorothy (Needham) Shingledecker in Three Rivers. She spent her early years in Howardsville and graduated from Three Rivers High School with the Class of 1951.
In 1954, she married the love of her life, Maurice Kuhlman, and together they made their home on the Kuhlman family farm in Mendon. There they built a family with their children-Teresa, Myra, Phil, and Lucinda. Following Maurice’s passing in October 1988, Patsy remained devoted to her family and to the home they had created, continuing to live on the family farm for more than 71 years.
Patsy worked for Pfizer (Upjohn), yet her greatest devotion was to her family and home. She was a gifted homemaker with a generous heart. She lived each day with purpose, offering her time and talents to others. She volunteered at the NEW HOPE Free Store in Centreville and supported Mendon Kiwanis dinners. She enjoyed time with friends playing Dominos, Po.Ke.No., bowling, golfing, or square dancing. Her love was often expressed through her cooking, especially her treasured home-cooked meals and her much-anticipated Christmas cookies.
With her impeccable sense of style, sharp attention to details and flawless memory, Patsy was known for her grace and kindness. She appreciated the tradition of sending and receiving cards, never missing an opportunity to mark a special occasion. Remembering others was one of her many gifts.
On Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at the age of 92, Patsy entered her heavenly home, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and unwavering devotion.
Patsy was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Kuhlman; her parents, Forrest and Dorothy Shingledecker; her sister, Betty Ann Jackson; her brothers, Bud and Dick Shingledecker; and her special friend, Carl Trump.
Left to mourn her are her daughters Teresa (Ron Neale) Cytlak and Myra (Mike) Kolbow; her son Phil (Gail) Kuhlman; and her daughter Lucinda Mowery. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Justin (Jenny) Kolbow, Nick (Lexie) Kolbow, Kevin Kuhlman, Ashley Kuhlman, Cole (Abigail) Mowery, and Parker Mowery; and her great-grandchildren Madison, Kennedy, and Paige Kolbow, and Mia Kolbow, each of whom brought her immense joy.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. A funeral service will follow on Monday, December 8, 2025, at 11:00 at the United Methodist Church in Mendon. A hot luncheon will be served following the service. Immediately following the luncheon there will be a short interment held at the Lakeside Cemetery in Colon. All are invited to attend.
Patsy was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; a strong and steadfast woman; and a devoted friend. Her presence enriched the lives of all who knew her, and her memory will continue to be cherished by all whose lives she touched.
