Winifred Ann “Winnie” Andrews, age 90, of Sturgis, passed away on Sunday evening, February 1, 2026, at Rose Arbor Place in Kalamazoo.
She was born May 25, 1935 in North Adams, Michigan, the daughter of the late Ralph Culver and Anna Louise (Perkins) Wolcott. Winnie resided most of her life in Sturgis and graduated from Sturgis High School with the Class of 1952.
In May of 1953, she married the love of her life, Randall L. “Randy” Andrews, at the Sturgis Bible Chapel. He preceded her in death on March 27, 2017.
Winnie retired from Sturgis Public Schools following 30 years of dedicated employment. She was the first-ever secretary at Fourth Street School, a Librarian Assistant at Wall School and Sturgis High School, and then the Community Schools secretary. She had a deep love for her Lord and Savior and was a faithful member of Radiant Life Church in Sturgis. She was known for her hospitality, was a woman of prayer, loved spending time with Jesus, and filled the role of mother and grandmother to many.
A talented pianist, Winnie offered private piano lessons to many students in earlier years. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens, drinking tea and eating chocolate, and was an avid reader. She was creative with pressed flowers, stained glass, and basket weaving. While she had many hobbies and interests, Winnie was truly happiest when surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Michael (Donna) Andrews of Sturgis and Martha (Mark) VanDosen of Sturgis; grandchildren, Elise (Justin) Kirtland, Emily (Kevin) Lied, Ryan (Tiffany) VanDosen, Nina Sawyer, William Sawyer, and Chad (Rebecca) VanDosen; great-grandchildren, Ivy, Marlowe, and June Kirtland, Canaan and Titus VanDosen, Caroline and Bridget Lied, Eden, Apollo, and Harmony VanDosen; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Randall; her daughter, Shelly Sawyer; her son-in-law Herb Sawyer; her two brothers, Mert and Walt Wolcott; and her nephew, Alan Wolcott.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 12:00 noon on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Road, Sturgis, where funeral services celebrating Winnie’s life will immediately follow the visitation at 12:00.
Winnie’s grandson, Chad VanDosen, and Pastor Ryan Bibb of Radiant Life Church will officiate. A graveside committal will follow at Tobey Cemetery in Burr Oak Township.
