Ruth Ann Busz, a beacon of love and joy, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at the age of 85.

Born on October 11, 1940 in Constantine, Ruth’s life was a tapestry of strong family bonds, enduring friendships, and a zest for life that touched everyone she knew. Ruth’s journey began as the daughter of William and Ruth Stoddard. Her life was further enriched with her siblings, Charles, Bill, Millie, Mary, and Jeannie. Ruth was preceded in death by her loving parents and siblings, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and family unity. The true essence of Ruth’s life was her beloved husband, Richard Busz, with whom she shared 67 years of unwavering love. Their enduring commitment to each other was a testament to the power of love and the foundation upon which their family was built.

Ruth was a devoted mother to her daughter, Joni (Mark) Busz Galbreath, and a doting grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immeasurable joy to her life. Ruth’s love extended to her grandchildren, Michael (Sadie) Grandstaff, Patrick (Robyn) Grandstaff, and Brian (Jamie) Grandstaff. She rejoiced in the accomplishments and milestones of her great-grandchildren, Maddi (Tanner), Carley, Avree, Rhiannon, Patrick, Karley, Willow, Clayton, Ashlee, and Racheal, and her great-great-grandchildren, Holland, Patrick, and Kaliegh. Ruth’s nurturing spirit was felt by many outside her immediate family, earning her the affectionate title of “Granny” from numerous children who claimed her as their own; her sister, Bonnie Nottoli and several nieces, nephews and extended relatives.

Ruth’s professional life was spent as the heart of the Pigeon Inn, where she served as a bartender for the majority of her career. Her personality and genuine care for others made the inn more than just a place for a drink; it became a community hub where friendships were formed and memories made. An avid bingo player, Ruth’s competitive spirit and camaraderie were well-known in Orland, IN, where she spent many evenings daubing her way to victory. Her love for her family was the cornerstone of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them, whether on motorcycle rides or special camping trips with her three boys. Ruth’s passion for life was evident in her love of nature and flowers, with roses holding a special place in her heart. Her garden was a reflection of her soul, vibrant and full of life, where she found peace and solace.

As we bid farewell to Ruth Ann Busz, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and joy. Her unwavering love for her family, and her infectious laughter. Her memory will be celebrated at a later date when the sunshine is warm and the roses are in bloom, like the roses she so adored.
