Marion Wayne “Hap” Yoder, age 75, of Sturgis, passed away early Sunday morning, March 15, 2026, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
He was born January 11, 1951 in Sturgis, son of the late Sylvanus LeRoy and Sylvia (Yoder) Yoder.
Hap resided in the Sturgis and Colon area most of his life.
He retired from International Paper Company in Sturgis following over 15 years of dedicated employment. Prior to joining International Paper, he worked several years at Midwest Tool & Cutlery in Sturgis. Following his retirement, he enjoyed offering transportation to his many friends and family. Harness racing held a special place in his heart. In his younger years he raised, trained, and raced horses, a passion that never left his heart.
He is survived by his children: Jerry (Mary) Yoder of Topeka, Indiana, Christine (Floyd) Hostetler of Shipshewana, Janice (Scott) Weaver of Goshen, Richard (Erma) Yoder of LaGrange, and Robert (Janine) Yoder of Ligonier; 25 grandchildren; one great grandchild; his siblings: Connie Bontrager of Colon, Howard (Rachel) Yoder of Sturgis, and Sharon (John) Mishler of LaGrange, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Ronnie Yoder and brother-in-law: Ben Bontrager.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 4:00 and 5:00 to 7:00 Tuesday, March 17th and 10:00 to 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 18th at New Beginnings Community Church, 63022 M-66 in Sturgis where funeral services celebrating the life of Marion “Hap” Yoder will immediately follow the visitation at 11:00. Pastor Randy Evans will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Locust Grove Cemetery in Burr Oak.
