Susan Elizabeth Gose, age 66, of Vicksburg, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. She was born in Kalamazoo on February 9, 1960 the daughter of Millard “Ray” and Harlene (Weasaw) Abbott. Susan attended Vicksburg High School and was part of the 1978 graduating class. Shortly before graduation, she married the love of her life, Stanley Ray Gose in Vicksburg on August 6, 1977. In her younger years, she worked at Boers Dresss Shop; and for over 20 years, Susan was employed by Vicksburg Community Schools, driving school bus and lending a hand as a custodian at both the school and Vicksburg Hospital.
If the task included a needle and a thread, Susan was your best choice to complete the project. Sewing, crocheting, knitting, quilting, she could do it all. Many family and friends have received her wonderful pieces of art over the years, wrapping themselves in heartfelt talent. While she was crafting, Susan would often have the Bee Gees and Garth Brooks playing in the background, bobbing her head as she attached the next pink panel to the quilt. She was a sucker for M&Ms, Shipshewana trips, and not turning the heat on in the house until the snow stuck to the ground! Susan’s sense of humor was both contagious and a cornerstone to her personality (a trait her family carries on very well). She loved conversations with strangers, helping others in need, and spoiling her two puppies Noah and Romeo.
Susan often told all her children, individually, “you’re my favorite”. As the next coming weeks pass, it’s quite evident that “Susan, Friend, and Mom was my favorite”.
Susan is survived by her three children; Michael (Kathy) Gose, Michele Gose, and Melissa Gose; mother; Harlene Abbott; sister; Laurie Abbott-Grimm; very special friends; Ken and Sherry McClish and their family; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in passing by her father; Ray Abbott; sister; Debroah Schippers; and her husband; Stanley Gose.
A graveside service will be held for Susan on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 1pm at Vicksburg Cemetery with Chris Salter officiating. It is suggested that donations made in her name be directed to the American Heart Association. Condolences and memories may be expressed to her family at eickhofffuneralhome.com
