Arlis Frohriep, 91

Arlis I. Frohriep, 91, of East Peoria, Ill., and formerly of Sturgis, died at 1:20 p.m. Sunday at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria.

She was born Feb. 3, 1919, in Battle Creek, a daughter of George and Mae Hibbard Hart. On July 12, 1941, she married Arnold Frohriep in Bryan, Ohio. He preceded her in death.

Surviving are a daughter, Joan (Rev. David) Likeness of Dunlap, Ill.; a son, Terry (Jean) Frohriep of Swanton, Ohio; a sister, Margaret (Loren) Moody of Ormond Beach, Fla.; three granddaughters, Deia Frohriep and Tina (Brian) Pinkerton, both of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Kristy (Rev. William) Nienstedt of Arlington, Va.; two great-grandsons, Dain and Chase Pinkerton of Fort Wayne; and a great-granddaughter, Katy Nienstedt of Arlington.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ardyce Beckwith and Ruth Peterson.

Arlis was a graduate of Lakeview High School in Battle Creek. She worked in the dietary department at Sturgis Memorial Hospital and later became coordinator of the school lunch program for the grade schools in Sturgis. She last worked as a front desk clerk at Holiday Inn in Battle Creek.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. April 29, 2011. The Rev. Calvin Kolzow will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, Ill., is assisting the family with arrangements.
