John R. Christensen, 86 of Dade City, Fla., formerly of Sturgis, passed away Feb. 4, 2011.
He was born Aug. 5, 1925, a son of Fred and Eva (Owen) Christensen.
On Oct. 15, 1946, he married Retha B. Perrin. She died Sept. 9, 1994. In 1996, he married Grace who survives in Dade City.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a truck driver retiring in the 1970s.
He enjoyed fishing, sulky racing, traveling and most of all his family.
He is survived by four daughters, Kristine (James) Taylor of Radcliff, Ky., Kellie (Dwayne) Stephens of Sturgis, Janice Jacobs of Sturgis, Sharyl (Elmer) Hargett of Burr Oak; eight grandchildren, Jimmy Taylor of Radcliff, Ann (Tony) Rumler of Radcliff, Kristopher Chapman of Sturgis, Sherri (Stan) Monroe of Sturgis, Rhonda (Vindy) Appukuttan of Sturgis, Wendy (Brian) Wonders of Sturgis, Karrie (Todd) Stull of Sturgis, Kimberly (Danny) Hargett of Burr Oak; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one sister, Sue (Les) Webb of Sturgis; three nephews and great nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and late wife.
According to his wishes, cremation took place in Dade City.
