Amos Brigham Jr., 96

Amos L. Brigham Jr., 96, of Centreville, passed away Friday, March 4, 2011 at his home. He was born in Needham, Mass., on July 13, 1914, a son of Amos and Agnes (Graun) Brigham Sr. On April 8, 1961 he married Janice Sewards in Centreville. She preceded him in death Jan. 5, 2009. Amos retired from the Textile Industry in 1984 having worked at Denton Mills in Centreville and Freeman Mfg. in Sturgis. He also served as crossing guard for Centreville Schools and worked at Pentagon Mold in Three Rivers and for Meyers Bros. Car Wash. Amos loved his family and especially spending time with his grandsons. Amos was honored as Citizen of the Year in Centreville in 2005.

Surviving are his daughters, Theresa Brigham of Centreville, Tina (John) Wells of Wabash, Ind. and Tracie (Charles) Barnes of Constantine; son, Terrence (Debra Mosher) Brigham of Centreville; grandsons, Bradley Barnes, Joseph Barnes and Anthony Barnes, all of Constantine; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; infant son, Leslie S. Brigham; sisters, Pearl Bellaire, Awilda Connors and Lois Sherman.

Relatives and friends will be received Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Eley Funeral Home in Centreville where Religious Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Pastor David Peterson, Centreville Baptist Church, will officiate.

Interment will be in the Prairie River Cemetery in Centreville. Memorial contributions may be made to Centreville Fire & Rescue. Online messages may be left for the family at www.eleyfuneralhomes.com.
