Nancy Elizabeth Cardella, 61, White Pigeon, died Monday, March 26, 2012, at her home, following an extended illness.
She was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.
She was born March 21, 1951, in Long Beach, Calif., a daughter of Jack and Barbara (Ernsberger) Rhoutsong. She had been a resident of White Pigeon the past two years, coming from Three Rivers. She also had resided in Rhode Island, Maryland and Niles, where she graduated from high school in 1970.
On June 2, 1972, she married Gennaro Cardella in Upper Marlboro, Md.
She had been employed 10 years at DTI in Middlebury, Ind.
She was a 19-year member of Mottville Community Church, and was a loving homemaker, mother and grandmother.
Surviving are her husband, Gennaro Cardella; a son, Jayson (Jamie) Cardella; a daughter, Jacki (Todd) Carpenter; grandchildren Marissa, Keegan and Payton Campbell, Aiden Carpenter and Lea, Layna and Larson Cardella; sisters April (Mike) Inman, Patricia (Barry) Lytle and Theresa (Craig) Martin; a brother, David (Sharron) Rhoutsong; her mother, Barbara Rhoutsong, her father-in-law, Henry Cardella; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mottville Community Church in Mottville. Pastor David Bell, the Rev. Andy Peters and Pastor Timothy Wolfe will officiate. Interment will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m., with full military honors.
