Domestic violence

A 25-year-old Sturgis Township woman was charged with second-offense domestic violence after she was involved in a situation around 2:30 p.m. Monday.

State police said troopers responded to a residence at the Sweet Lake Trailer Park regarding a call of a woman stabbing a man with a knife. Upon arrival, troopers found the circumstances were incorrectly reported, but noticed the woman had self-inflicted stab wounds.

Two knives were taken from the woman and she was transported to Sturgis Hospital for treatment. She was subsequently interviewed by officials from Community Mental Health. Two minors were released to the temporary custody of family members.

Investigators said alcohol was not a factor in the incident, but drug use is suspected.

The name of the woman was not disclosed in a department media release.
