Pauline C. Ash, age 101 of Three Rivers, died Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Heartland Health Care Center in Three Rivers where she has resided the past 6 years. She was born in Allegan, MI on March 22, 1908 the daughter of Emory and Bertha (Balch) Covault. She was married to Harvey Ash on Oct. 8, 1924 in Allegan. They were married for over 79 years prior to his death in 2004. Together they operated a farm east of Three Rivers and were members of the Farm Bureau. Pauline worked briefly at Wells Saw during WWII. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Maccabees, and enjoyed travels with her family.
Pauline is survived by a daughter, Betty Bertch of Vicksburg; 2 sons, Luther Ash (Nancy) of Mendon, and Basil Ash (Phyllis) of Leesburg, FL; 29 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; 45 great-great grandchildren; 1 sister, Marion Newell of Hastings; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harvey; a son, Lester Ash; 2 daughters, Barbara Horn and Leora DeLong; granddaughter, Lynn Ash; grandson, Jim DeLong; great grandsons, Wesley Bertch and Sean DeLong; 3 brothers, Ben, Clyde, and Louis Covault; and by 2 sisters, Ica Bronson and Eunice Berzley.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Eickhoff, Farrand, Halverson Chapel of Three Rivers. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Bethany Chapel, 15130 Millard Road, Three Rivers with Pastor Tim Moore officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
