K-Wings lose fourth in a row

Entering Saturday nights contest against the Quad City Mallards, the Kalamazoo Wings (5-6-0-1) were coming off back to back to back shutout losses at the hands of the Wheeling Nailers, Toledo Walleye and Cincinnati Cyclones.

The last goal the K-Wings scored was back on November 4th when the K-Wings beat the Brampton Beast 5-3. Scott Henegar scored at the 5:05 mark of the third period and since then, three straight games, or 194:55 of playing time, the K-Wings offense fell silent.

Sending 11 shots to Mallards goaltender C.J. Motte, the K-Wings were unable to put one in the net. The Mallards were unsuccessful against K-Wing netminder Joel Martin as well.

Striking gold early in the second period, Anthony Camara took a Tyler Shattock feed and tossed it into the net to break the K-Wings goalless street at 219:48 of gameplay and gave Kalamazoo a 1-0 lead.

For the K-Wings, however, that was the only goal they would manage in the game. The Mallards Brady Brassart scored two goals to win the game.

The Mallards outshot the K-Wings 25-23 while both teams came up empty on the power play.

Heading to Cincinnati for a 10:35 am game on Tuesday, the K-Wings will remain on the road for a pair of games in Toledo this weekend.

The K-Wings next home game will be Friday, November 25th when they host the Greenville Swamp Rabbits.

K-Wings News and Notes: The Wings have lost a season-high four-straight games… it was Kalamazoo’s first loss in six tries after scoring the first goal of the game… Kalamazoo and Quad City meet seven more times during the season… 11 of Kalamazoo’s next 12 games are on the road.
