Charges to be sought against a Sturgis couple

Sturgis police are expected to pursue charges against a Sturgis couple – already incarcerated in LaGrange County, Ind. – following the execution of a search warrant.

According to a department media release, officers followed through on the warrant Wednesday in the 700 block of Market Street. A search of the residence revealed what authorities called a makeshift chop shop located in the garage, with a stolen vehicle that was partially disassembled.

Police also found unregistered handguns, methamphetamine and marijuana, along with several other stolen items ranging from generators to golf carts. Charges will be sought against the 31-year-old woman and 34-year-old man. They are being held in LaGrange County on unrelated larceny and drug charges.
