Judith C. Ash, age 70, left this world on a warm summer breeze, Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
Judith was born Feb. 22, 1939, in Chicago, a daughter to the late John and Helen (Butrimas) Pokorny.
She had lived most of her life in Colon, graduating from Colon High School with the Class of 1957.
On Nov. 12, 1971, she married Warren Ash in Colon.
Judith had worked for the former Kirsch Company in Sturgis for 13 years, and later she worked several years for the Colmer Company in Colon retiring in 2002.
Judith enjoyed word search puzzles, collecting owls and dolls and especially enjoyed time spent with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Warren Ash of Colon; three sons, John (Lori) Ash of Sturgis, Mike (Jobi) Ash of Angola, Ind., and Brian (Debi) Ash of Colon; eight grandchildren, Crystal, Anthony, Amanda, Whitney, Kendall, Landon, Connor, and Briana; great-grandchildren Daison and Madison; two sisters, Betty (Greg) Griffin of Anaheim, Calif., and Delores (Richard) Ware of Sturgis; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Jim Pokorny.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. Saturday at the Schipper Funeral Home LTD. in Colon. A funeral service celebrating the life of Judith C. Ash will then take place at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Mr. David J. Farrell officiating.
Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Colon, immediately followed by a fellowship luncheon at the Colon Masonic Lodge.
If desired the family suggest memorials be made in memory of Judith to the Salvation Army. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
