Constantine presents collective bargaining agreement for police

Constantine Village Manager Mark Honeysett this week presented the council with a proposed collective bargaining agreement between the village and Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council, representing the Constantine Police Department bargaining unit.

There are few changes to the current contract, Honeysett said, noting that it calls for a 2.5 percent wage increase for all full- time police officers in the first year, and 3-percent increases for each of the next two years.

The only other changes are the addition of details that allow for the designation of a cadet position if the village chooses to sponsor a person’s attendance at a police academy, one additional annual personal day for each officer, and increasing meal reimbursement for officers who are out of town for meetings or training, Honeysett said.

The agreement expires in 2022.

  1. Information lacking: What were the previous percent wage increases? The actual number of personal days allowed? The total meal reimbursement allowed? How much the village (aka taxpayers) will pay toward cadet schooling? You gotta love the police chief negotiating with himself (aka the manager).
