ARF reaches milestone

Animal Rescue Fund of St. Joseph County is celebrating a milestone that was reached last month.

The group helped with costs for its 10,000 spay/neuter since the group was founded in April 1998.

A stray, 40-pound dog was found and taken to Crossroads Veterinary Clinic in Three Rivers Jan. 19. Staff named her Hannah and on Jan. 22, ARF covered her spay process as well as other vaccinations.

A foster-care group was found to help apply a salve three times daily to an area treated by Crossroads staff while a forever home is being pursued for the mixed-breed canine.

The all-volunteer ARF in its 11-year history has spent about $450,000 to help with spay/neuter and other costs to treat animals in St. Joseph County.
