COA considers PACE agreement

St. Joseph County Commission on Aging Advisory Board last week discussed the possibility of approving a PACE program expansion agreement.

The agreement outlines details of COA’s relationship with Senior Care Partners to bring PACE to St. Joseph and Branch counties.

If approved, PACE would be housed at the COA’s Enrichment Center in Sturgis.

The agreement states the north and south portions of Enrichment Center would be remodeled by COA, at a cost of $350,000, to accommodate the new PACE Day Center for Senior Care Partners.

The remodeled space, to be occupied by Senior Care Partners, would be about 8,800 square feet.

Under the agreement, COA would pay for the services of an architect and the costs associated with the renovations with the understanding that Senior Care Partners would repay the costs of the renovation over the term of a 15-year lease.
