Police pursuit ends in arrests

Two LaGrange County residents were arrested after a pursuit that started in Indiana concluded in Burr Oak Township.

Sheriff’s deputies were notified around 8 p.m. Sept. 26 that a vehicle was being pursued by Indiana authorities and heading into eastern St. Joseph County. The vehicle was located near the village of Burr Oak and it continued northbound on Burr Oak Road, where stop sticks placed near the intersection of Hackman Road successfully deflated tires of the vehicle.

The vehicle came to a stop near Hagelgans Road before the driver fled the scene on foot. He was located with the assistance of a state police K9 unit, which tracked him to a creek on the east end of a field.

The 44-year-old man was charged with multiple felonies, while a 34-year-old passenger was extradited for charges she faced in Indiana.
