New truck for Fabius-Park Fire Department

The Fabius-Park Fire Department this week took delivery of a new addition to its fleet of vehicles.

Department officials said the rescue pumper was delivered Monday and will be the primary vehicle when response to a fire or the need for medical service is warranted. Chief Mike Frye said a few in-house modifications to the truck have to be made before it is put into service within the next month.

The $475,000 vehicle is capable of pumping up to 150,000 gallons of water per minute. In addition, Frye noted, it is designed to accommodate all the necessary equipment crews may need in response to a fire, accident or medical emergency.

The vehicle was made by Spencer Manufacturing in South Haven.
