Jail visitation temporarily suspended

St. Joseph County Sheriff Mark Lillywhite announced late Wednesday that all non-essential visitation at the Centreville facility will be temporarily suspended.

Lillywhite said the decision was made due to safety and health concerns related to the Coronavirus and the associated state of emergency declared by Gov. Whitmer.

Lillywhite said the safety and health of the jail population and employees is paramount.

These measure takes effect today, and will be reviewed and revised as the situation continues to develop, he said.
