Foreclosure deadline extended

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, Governor Whitmer has issued an executive order to extend the property tax foreclosure deadline until May 29, or 30 days after termination of the state of emergency.

As a result, the St. Joseph County Treasurers office will not be foreclosing on properties with unpaid 2017 and prior taxes until the deadline is met.

The office remains closed to the public. Treasurer Judie Ratering suggested residents make use of the county’s website for updates and payment options.

Its web address is stjosephcountymi.org.
