ISD details plans for closure

Members of the St. Joseph County Intermediate School District board recently heard details related to how the ISD is handling closures because of COVID-19.

Superintendent Teresa Belote said the ISD has identified necessary staff, including those who will perform food delivery and preparation for students, those who support online learning, maintenance/custodial staff and business-office staff performing essential operations.

They have asked employees, to the extent that they can, to work from home.

Teachers contacted each of the Pathfinder and Great Start Readiness Program families to determine who needs food at home.

With the support of the St. Joseph County United Way, there will be enough food to provide nine meals for each young person requesting it, which will get them through the date spring break was scheduled to start, Belote said.

Teachers, assistants, bus drivers, Belote and her staff all will help with delivery.
