Members of the Constantine Village Council have approved the municipality’s 2020-21 budget.
Village manager Mark Honeysett said the taxable value is estimated at $36.6 million, with tax revenue unchanged from last year. He added that one area of concern is the sewer fund.
Honeysett said the village will not be able to close the gap between revenue and expense to pipe effluent to the Three Rivers treatment plant. He’s hopeful that 2020 will be the last year for that, as the village is attempting to develop its own treatment plant.
The budget is based on an anticipated levy of 13.75 mills, with 11.75 mills dedicated to general village operations and 2 mills for the water and sewer debt retirement fund.
