Local students named All-State

Two local student-athletes were recognized with All- State accolades for their basketball seasons. White Pigeon’s Claycee West was named to the Associated Press Second Team for Division 3, while Centreville’s Joanna Larsen was tabbed to the honorable mention team for Division 3.

West this season set the all-time scoring mark for White Pigeon, breaking head coach Brooke McClure’s record. West finished her career with 1,516 total points.

West has signed a letter of intent to continue her academic and basketball careers with Taylor University in Upland, Ind.

Meanwhile, Larsen is going to play volleyball at Purdue Fort Wayne the next four years. She’s excited for the opportunity, but also said she’s proud of the accomplishments on the basketball court both individually and by her team.

For the year, Larsen logged nine double-doubles. She averaged better than 17 points and eight rebounds per game. The Lady Bulldogs won 20 games again this season.

Centreville won four straight conference championships during Larsen’s time. She also passed head coach Jill Peterson on the all-time scoring list and finished third-best in Centreville program history with 1,222 total points.
