Appointments made by county commission

Appointments to two county panels were approved during Tuesday’s St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners meeting.

John Gelvin and Sarah Apwisch were appointed to the Commission On Aging Board.

Commissioner Al Balog said he and Commissioner Ken Malone, along with COA director Tim Stoll, interviewed both candidates. Balog said Gelvin and Apwisch will be great additions to the COA board. Malone echoed Balog’s comments, adding that the new appointees have professional attributes that will benefit their membership to the COA board.

With the two appointments, the COA board is now at full strength.

Also, Janet Bermingham and John Dobberteen were reappointed to the county’s Community Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services Board, while Robert Horton was added as a new member.

Commissioner Kathy Pangle said one vacancy to the CMH board remains to be filled.
