Constantine Public Schools is facing a gender-discrimination charge stemming from a middle school principal candidate who was chosen, then revoked days later.
Kalamazoo attorney Ross Chapman is representing Kristina Crabill, who interviewed for the job last summer. After two rounds of interviews, Crabill was offered the position by then-superintendent Steve Wilson. Crabill accepted the job July 18.
According to Chapman, Crabill was informed five days later that the school board revoked the offer and had given the job to a man, even though Crabill earned more points in the interview process, more votes from the interview committee and was more qualified for the position.
The gender discrimination is being pursued through the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, according to Chapman, adding that a lawsuit will be filed should that be necessary.
Crabill ended up getting a job at an elementary school in Hillsdale County.
