New COVID-19 death in St. Joseph County

St. Joseph County’s second death related to COVID-19 was confirmed Tuesday by Emergency Management Director Erin Goff.

Addressing St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners, Goff said the county also had an increase in its total number of confirmed cases, which stood at 90 as of 3 p.m. Tuesday. The figure represented three new cases from the previous day.

The new death was reportedly an older man.

She added that the 90 cases are from when tracking of such numbers started and does not mean there are currently that many cases.

Meanwhile, Goff said the county’s Emergency Operations Center Team continues to meet and communicate regularly to determine the need for personal-protective equipment, what suppliers remain available and how to get supplies to where they need to be.

Also, she noted that Commission On Aging and St. Joseph County United Way have been steady sources of food, and both agencies have filled a vital gap for many families in St. Joseph County.
