Magic City Egg Fest postponed

After careful consideration and consultation with state and local officials, the Magic City Egg Fest will be postponed until August 15 due to the COVID-19 crisis, event organizers announced last week.

The culinary grilling competition made its debut in Colon last June and was originally scheduled to take place again later this month.

Participants use the Big Green Egg, a Kamado-style grill, which will be provided for use during the event. It is described as a grill, smoker and oven all in one unit.

Coordinator Tim Taylor said all team entry fees and ticket fees can be used for the new date. Teams and ticket holders can request a refund, or teams can apply their entry fee towards next year’s event.

Team fees and/or ticket fees can also be donated to the Colon American Legion.

Taylor can be reached at 773-383-7892.
