Kalamazoo airport increasing service

Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport and its airlines continue to recover and return service to Southwest Michigan, according to the airport’s director.

Craig Williams said after significant reductions in seats and passengers in April and May, passengers are returning to the skies and the airlines are responding by returning planes to the Kalamazoo market.

After the Fourth of July holiday, Williams said the recovery continues with Delta Air Lines increasing service to its Detroit hub to three times daily and American Airlines increasing services on peak days to twice daily to Chicago O’Hare.

Williams said this will be followed in August with Delta’s return of service to its Minneapolis hub.

In a media release, Williams stated, “The airlines are returning seats to those markets that have a healthy demand for service – Kalamazoo, Battle Creek and Southwest Michigan have that demand. If our community continues to fly local, the airlines will continue to support us.”
