COVID-19 cases on the rise

The number of COVID-19 cases continues to climb in the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency’s service area.

Three additional deaths were reported this week in St. Joseph County. On Tuesday, 18 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in St. Joseph County, bringing the cumulative cases since March to 938. County cases passed the 800 mark last week.

In Branch County, 13 new cases were reported Tuesday, bringing the cumulative case number to 704 and the number of deaths to 10, up one from last week.

Most schools in the health agency’s coverage area have quarantined or isolated those who have tested positive or who were exposed to someone who has a laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 result.

Meanwhile, White Pigeon High School is scheduled to reopen Monday after officials opted Oct. 13 to shut the building.
