Roger Somerlott, 72

Roger Dale Somerlott, age 72, of Colon, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, December 29, 2021. He was born on January 30, 1949 to Roy and Zelma (Schrader) Somerlott.

Roger grew up in Colon. He graduated from Colon High School with the class of 1969. During his Senior year, Roger was the Manager for the Colon Magi Varsity Football team, a member of the Chess Club and his fondest memory of high school was “Playing Center” his sophomore year. Roger proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in 1972 and was then stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1976.

Roger worked for the City of Sturgis until his retirement. During his retirement, Roger enjoyed doing puzzles, bingo, keeping statistics of sports, and Colon Football.
Roger is survived by his friend, Daniel Kohloff of Colon; his brother, John Somerlott of Three Rivers; his half-sister, Bobbi (Steven) Scott of White Pigeon; and two nieces and one nephew.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Roy L. Somerlott Sr. and Zelma E. (Somerlott) Dawson; brother, Roy L. Somerlott Jr.; and sister, Sherry Jill Somerlott.

Per Roger’s request cremation has taken place and no formal services will be held at this time.
