Glen Oaks considers loan for proposed work

Glen Oaks Community College administrators are reviewing the option of securing a low-interest USDA loan versus the idea of campus financial resources.

Currently, the only college debt consists of two USDA loans: the residence hall, which pays for itself in student boarding fees; and the concourse renovation.

The proposed South Campus work would potentially include renovation of the locker rooms and the Nora Hagen Theatre, roof replacement on Ken Schuler Court, upgrades to the second floor of D Wing, along with infrastructure throughout, and encapsulation of the exterior walls.

Initial estimates are around $3 million. The board has agreed to move forward and begin consulting with architects.
