Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency has been notified by the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy of untreated manure that overflowed from a waste storage structure last week in Branch County’s Algansee Township.
EGLE staff members have been on site and have observed manure three to four miles downstream, and at the water inlet of Marble Lake.
Residents and visitors to the Marble Lake/Fisher Creek area are encouraged to avoid the Marble Lake water inlet area, as well as Fisher Creek.
Health officer Rebecca Burns said Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency is in contact with EGLE staff. She further advised residents to avoid the inlet area, keeping themselves, children, and pets out of the water.
