Barb Wilder, 81

Barbara G. Wilder, age 81, of Sturgis, passed away peacefully late Sunday evening, December 4, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born August 6, 1941 in Midland County daughter of the late Earl and Maude (Anthony) Seeley.

Barb resided in Sturgis since 1959 coming from Sheperd, Michigan.

In 1962, she married Hurshel Wilder and together they celebrated 60 years of marriage.

Quick with a smile and a joke, Barb’s blue eyes often sparkled with mischief. She enjoyed many laughs with her family camping up North, reading, going to garage sales with her sisters, and playing guitar. Barb also spent her time painting pottery and crocheting. However, she was a sports enthusiast at heart, loyal to her Detroit Tigers most of all. Her love of the game started as a young girl at the softball diamond – a passion she passed on to her children. For many years, she could be found playing fastpitch softball on a league or cheering on others from the stands. Devote in her faith, Barb was involved for many years in her church by teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir.

Barb is survived by her husband Hurshel Wilder, son Jeff (Kimberly) Wilder, daughter Judy (Kim Young) Wilder, grandchildren, Joshua (Jocelyn) Wilder, Samantha Wilder, Haylee Young-Wilder, Mackenzie (JD) Sykora, Liam Adams, great-grandchildren Brylee Wilder, Harrison Wilder and Maggie Sykora, sisters Doris Lytle and Earlene Artecki and brother David Seeley. She was preceded in death by her father Earl Seeley, mother Maude Seeley, stepmother Margaret Seeley, brothers Clifford Seeley and Willard Seeley, sisters Thelma Opdycke, Helen Kindig, Fay McCaul, and Pauline Smith.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 on Thursday at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd. in Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Barbara Wilder will be held at 11:00 Friday morning at the Whole Life Church in Sturgis. Pastor Charles Vizthum will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis, followed by a continued time of fellowship and the sharing of a meal in the church fellowship hall.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial donations be directed to Whole Life Church, 1420 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091.

We encourage relatives and friends to share memories and condolences at www.hackmanfamilyfuneralhomes.com.
