Donald Albert Palmer, age 95, of Centreville, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Edgewood Nursing and Rehab of Three Rivers.
He was born June 6, 1927 in Sturgis, a son to the late James Albert and Bertha (Baker) Palmer.
Donald married Norma Plucinski and this marriage ended in divorce in 1978.
He was employed by Taylor Produce Co. for several years, then worked for Geo Squier Dist. Co. for 40 years before retiring.
He resided in Sturgis until 1992 and then moved to the Centreville area. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy aboard a destroyer (DD833) in the Pacific and Japan. He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign, American Campaign, and the WWII victory ribbons.
Donald was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, American Legion Post 73, and Capt. John J. Kelley V.F.W. Post #1355.
He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons: David (Connie) Palmer and Larry (Myrtle Jo) Palmer both of Centreville; 4 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents and brothers and sisters.
