Ruth Moore, 94

On Friday, May 19, 2023, just days after her 94th birthday, Ruth Moore peacefully passed from this earth to her eternal home in Heaven. After her faithful service to the Lord, she is now with the Savior she loved and lived for all her life. Ruth accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior as a young girl at the age of 12. She desired to become a pastor’s wife as her service to the Lord. When she started to date a boy from Wayland, she fell in love, but Dewey was not yet a believer and she would not marry him until he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. Many in Ruth’s family prayed for both Ruth and Dewey. While in the military, prayers for Dewey’s salvation were answered! Dewey was saved, and Ruth could now marry him. They moved to Chicago for Dewey to attend Moody Bible Institute, and afterwards God sent them to the first church in which they ministered. God answered Ruth’s prayer and desire as she was a pastor’s wife for almost 50 years, faithfully serving alongside Dewey at seven different churches. Ruth was a kind, generous, and Godly woman.

Ruth had some interests and hobbies that she enjoyed during her lifetime. Ruth and Dewey enjoyed taking an old and worthless piece of furniture and refinishing it. They even refinished a piano. Another joy was going out to eat with family and friends, enjoying the fellowship. Ruth also enjoyed preparing, working, and cleaning up after a successful garage sale. She was the best pastor’s wife because she took care of Dewey and the congregations they served. She supported and stood with Dewey during the good times and the hard times. She also took good care of the two boys God gave her. She enjoyed playing games and going to her grandchildren’s school and sporting events. Ruth loved holding and caring for babies, especially her boys, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ruth and Dewey will be missed by those on this earth for a time, but we know it will be a great reunion in heaven. Ruth is with her Savior, her husband and many family members and friends rejoicing and praising her Savior!

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey, and survived by her two sons, Gary and Tim; two daughters-in-law, Sherry and Becky; six grandchildren, Crystal, Amber, Garrett, Rachel, Randall, and Renee, that later married; and 16 great-grandchildren. All were loved and enjoyed by Ruth as she reminded them often of her love for them. Thank you for all the cards, phone calls, and messages. They were a great encouragement to the family.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Bethany Chapel, 15130 Millard Rd., Three Rivers, MI 49093. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church, with Pastor Lance Laker officiating.

Donations in Ruth’s memory may be directed to Bethany Chapel. Envelopes are available at Hohner Funeral Home in care of her arrangements.
