Three Rivers Community Schools has joined the list of school districts across the nation battling ongoing bus driver shortages.
WWMT News 3 has reported the district is short two regular drivers along with four substitutes.
Like other school districts across the nation, Three Rivers is trying to work around resignations, drivers on medical leave and lack of applicants, WWMT stated.
Starting this week, Three Rivers has implemented a six-week bus-rotation schedule while suspending two routes. As a result, routes covered by buses 5 and 24 are postponed and will resume Monday, October 23rd.
According to Superintendent Nikki Nash, Three Rivers is actively interviewing candidates as well as training bus drivers. Nash said training takes six weeks.
Nash said there has been discussion regarding increasing pay for drivers in the future.
