Carol Ann Cleveland, age 82, of Mendon passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. She was born in Marshall on October 6, 1942 the youngest of six children born to Rex and Florence (Tucker) Clark. She was a graduate of Marshall High School, and was later married to Daniel Cleveland on May 25, 1963 in the Marshall United Methodist Church. Dan and Carol moved to Mendon in 1965 where Carol provided in-home day care for several years. Carol worked as a Nursing Assistant for Doctors Nester and Barrett in Athens, and for Dr. Rasmussen at the office in downtown Mendon until its closing. Carol’s favorite activities included caring for and cooking for her grandchildren and family. She took pride in decorating her home to coincide with every monthly holiday.
Carol is survived by a daughter, Wendy (Ron) Huggett of Mendon; a son, Randy (Kathy) Cleveland of Mendon; eight grandchildren, Morgan (Brian) Simsick, Hope (J.T.) Cardier, Jessica (Mike) Ramey, Michael (Melissa) Cleveland, Daniel (Amber) Cleveland, Gabriel Cleveland, Samuel Cleveland, and Jackson Thomas; and by thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dan; three sisters; two brothers; and a grandson, Todd Huggett.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm on Thursday, January 23rd at the Eickhoff Funeral Home (311 W. Main, Mendon, MI 49072). Funeral services will be at 1 pm Friday, January 24, 2025 at the funeral home with Rev. Carl Litchfield officiating. Burial will take place in Mendon Cemetery.
