David Lee Dentler age 77, of Bronson, Michigan, and former resident of Sturgis, passed away early Sunday morning January 19, 2025, at Northwest Health in LaPorte, Indiana.
He was born August 11, 1947, in Sturgis, son of the late Merle and Thelma (Johnson) Dentler.
David resided most of his life in Michigan except for the time he lived in Missouri and Tennessee.
Most of his working life was using his skills as a heavy equipment operator and he was also a truck driver.
David enjoyed his guns and shooting, and had a love for fishing.
He is survived by his son: Lee Dentler of Quincy; grandchildren: Patrice Ewers and Lor’ee Cunningham, both of Three Rivers, and Terrance Marble of Union City; great grandchildren: Julian, Laela and Luna; sisters: Cheryl Fletcher of Wichita, Kansas and Linda Rich of Houston, Missouri; brothers: Robert Andrews of Houston, Missouri, Jim Andrews of LaGrange, Indiana and Gayle Andrews of Missouri and many nieces and nephews and his beloved cat that he rescued as a kitten: Princess.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter: Heather Dentler Young and four sisters and one brother.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 Saturday, January 25th at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis. In honoring David’s wishes cremation will follow the visitation. Burial of the remains will take place at Pretty Prairie Cemetery in rural Howe, Indiana in the spring or summer of 2025.
