Teenager arrested for assaulting officer

A 15-year-old girl from Sturgis was arrested Monday after she attempted to stab a Sturgis police officer. According to a department media release, the officer approached the girl shortly after 1 a.m. at Lakeview and Congress streets, as she was in violation of the city’s curfew for teenagers. Two arrested following home invasion

A sharp-eyed, off-duty deputy from the Cass County Sheriff’s Department led to the arrest of two of three suspects involved in a home-invasion incident over the weekend. Colon Fire Department to replace old gear

The Colon Fire Department will soon begin the expensive task of replacing old gear. Last week, it received help toward that goal from Independent Transmission Company with a donation of $650. Sturgis man arrested after assault on officers

A 31-year-old Sturgis man was taken to the St. Joseph County Jail after he allegedly attacked some Sturgis Police officers Tuesday last week. Man dies after jumping from moving car

A Cassopolis resident has died from injuries following an incident which occurred on Friday. Drake Brewer, age 21, died at Borgess Medical Center. Man accused of abandoning livestock to die pleads no contest

A central Michigan man accused of abandoning livestock to die has pleaded no contest in a plea deal with prosecutors.
