Suspect arrested near Vandalia

The Cass County Sheriff’s Department has apprehended a man who is a suspect in the armed robbery last week of the Hilltop Gas Station Union. Acting on a tip, Edward Wing was taken into custody from a location in Calvin Township. Wing was the subject of a manhunt Monday after he fled from police into a cornfield south of Vandalia.

Marine Corps will receive detachment charter

The St. Joseph County Marine Corps League has announced it will receive its detachment charter next month. Colon Village President Tom Whitford said the long-abandoned Lamb Knit Goods has a new owner. Organizers of the 29th Sturgis Toy Run reported a well-attended event over the weekend.
